Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in Health Systems Administration, nursing, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, pharmaceutical, medicine, social work, education, economics, or any other relevant field are welcome to apply. Obtaining a master’s degree in Health Systems Administration creates opportunities for career advancements to senior management positions or enhance professional performance as managers in current workplaces. The program does not require a thesis.

The M.H.A. courses are taught by the top lecturers from the health system, headed by the program’s dean, Prof. Zion Hagay, Chairperson of the Israel Medical Association, and the head of the program, Prof. Shifra Shvarts, researcher of Israel’s health services.

The Health Systems Administration master’s degree is one of the Center’s new tracks commencing in the (2024-2025) academic year.

The Program’s Curriculum

The Health Systems Administration master’s degree program at the Peres Academic Center does not require a thesis and is designed to train senior managers in the Israeli healthcare system. The course provides a comprehensive education that covers operations, economics, policy, technology, and the challenges faced by the healthcare system. Moreover, students acquire various tools to manage medical institutions, lead organizational processes, address concerns, and conduct applied research in the field. The program aims to prepare skilled industry leaders who can effectively tackle the various challenges in the healthcare industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a significant transformation in healthcare in Israel and worldwide. The health industry was compelled to establish new standards and roles and adopt innovative technological advancements to accommodate the new situation. Thus, the Health Systems Administration gained momentum and became one of the most in-demand healthcare professions.

The Health Systems Administration master’s degree program at the Peres Academic Center trains managers to acquire the necessary skills to implement and lead changes and improvements in the Israeli health system. Admission Requirements for the Master’s Degree in Health Systems Administration

Candidates who meet the following will be accepted into the program:

  • Holders of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree grade point average of 80 or above will be admitted automatically.
  • Applicants with insufficient statistics, economics, and epidemiology backgrounds must complete supplementary studies as detailed below.
  • In this program, up to 10% of exceptional applicants may be accepted based on the consideration of their exceptional life circumstances.

Candidates who did not take courses in statistics, economics, and epidemiology as part of their bachelor’s degree are required to complete supplementary studies as follows:

  • Introduction to Statistics, 2 semester hours
  • Introduction to Epidemiology, 4 semester hours
  • Introduction to Economics, 2 semester hours

If more than 5 years have passed since applicants completed their graduate studies, they will be required to take the supplementary course in statistics.

Applicants whose mother tongue is not Hebrew must take the Hebrew proficiency test (YAEL). These candidates must acquire an exemption by the end of their first semester of studies in the program.

Supplementary courses do not earn credits.

Questions and Answers

The program comprises advanced core courses in healthcare management. The curriculum focuses on developing critical and creative thinking regarding healthcare management in Israel and globally in the 21st century and addresses the future challenges of managing health systems. In addition, the program equips students with cross-disciplinary skills and a comparative perspective, expanding their managerial and academic abilities.

The Center is staffed with a leading team of lecturers headed by Prof. Shifra Shvarts, a board member and member of the Board of Trustees of the Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research

Seminar – Students will participate in a seminar on healthcare systems, where they will meet experts from various health organizations and services. In addition, a “poster” will be presented to enable research and in-depth study, combining presentation and discussion in class to gain practical experience.

Elective courses – Students may choose management, health, society, and technology courses.

Certainly! The Peres Academic Center has a Career Development Department, which prepares students for job interviews and resume writing with career development unit consultants. The department also runs job fairs with leading companies to recruit employees.

Tuesday is a full day and includes hybrid and flexible learning.

Thursday is designated for the seminar + online supplementary courses.
