The course addresses these research methods’ theoretical and practical aspects, focusing on their advantages, disadvantages, and ethical dilemmas. The course is divided into three main sections: the first comprises the principles of quantitative research, including various research systems and measurement tools. The second section tackles the principles of qualitative research and multiple ways of collecting and analyzing qualitative data. The third section is a GCP workshop enabling practical and ethical application of the acquired knowledge. The course aims to expose students to various research methods in healthcare while providing an understanding of benefits and limitations.
This course is intended for first-year M.H.A. students interested in research, data collection, and learning about human trials.
Throughout the course, students will acquire the knowledge and skills to plan, execute, and evaluate health research. The course will cover the fundamental concepts and principles of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Students will learn about the research process, from identifying the problem and formulating research questions and hypotheses to planning, executing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. Moreover, the program will impart practical tools for planning and conducting research that combines quantitative and qualitative approaches while adhering to the industry’s accepted ethical standards (ICH-GCP).
By the end of the course, students will be able to differentiate between the various research types and methods and apply them judiciously to their future research.
