For whom is the program intended
This program is intended for students who are interested to become professionalized in fields of treatment and assistance in a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral problems through dogs.
Enrichment course in dog treatment
As a part of the undergraduate studies in Behavioral Sciences, together with the “My Dog” College for dog-breading studies, a certificate studies program in Dog Treatment was established in the Center.
The program grants knowledge under unique guidance, which includes a sequence of experience meetings with a variety of populations combining social, educational, behavioral, and rehabilitation components assisted by dogs. The courses studied in this program deal, amongst others, in the modern dog-world known methods of training with an emphasis on adapting the dog training method to his owner, a deep acquaintance with a variety of populations; youth at risk, learning disabilities, crippled and syndromes, and more.
The studies are conducted and led in cooperation with My Dog College, the largest center in Israel for training professionals and care providers in many fields among them: dog treatment, dog training, and more.
Upon the completion of the studies the program graduates will receive a certificate in “Dog Treatment”.
What will you learn in the program
The studies deal with two main subjects:
Getting to know the dog – in the first stage we will become acquainted with the dog, his body language, and his mood. At first, we will create a personal connection with the dog and learn to understand him. What does a meeting with other dogs looks like, how to interpret the dog’s body movements (nose, tongue, eyes) and how to speak the dog language. In addition to the practical level, we will also learn the historical dog development on a theoretical level.
Acquaintance with a variety of populations we will treat – the students will learn about all types of syndromes, limitations, and learning disabilities in the treatment of which the dog can be of assistance. The students will learn activation for each population and define treatment goals.
At the end of the studies, the students will undergo practical training with special populations to materialize with the patients everything that was studied.
