Biography
Dr. Shay Tsaban is an accountant with a multidisciplinary academic background that combines finance, social responsibility, and corporate strategy. He graduated with honors from The Open University of Israel, earning a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics. He further obtained an MBA with highest honors from the same institution, focusing on finance and operations.
At Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Dr. Tsaban completed his master’s thesis investigating gender wage gaps rooted in differences in beliefs and performance perceptions between men and women in tasks relevant to the labor market. This research reflects his commitment to addressing critical socio-economic issues.
He earned his PhD at Ariel University, where he researched the concept of Corporate Happiness Responsibility (CHR) and its implications for businesses, managers, shareholders, and customers in the modern era. His work examines the challenges corporations face in balancing profit objectives with the promotion of welfare and happiness in society, particularly given the increasing emphasis on corporate social and ethical responsibility concerning investments in happiness. The research proposes strategies for integrating profit-driven activities with the enhancement of national happiness indices and highlights the importance of understanding the impact of corporate actions on the happiness of various stakeholders. Utilizing both theoretical and empirical methods, the study explores the role of corporations in promoting happiness and welfare, addresses conflicts between managers and shareholders regarding investments in happiness, and evaluates the effectiveness of these investments on brand value from the customers’ perspective.
In addition to his academic activities, including publishing articles and participating in conferences in this field, Dr. Tsaban has extensive professional experience in accounting, including serving as a member of the Examination Committee of the Board of Accountants at the Ministry of Justice. His financial background helps businesses understand the importance and value of investing in happiness and welfare as part of an overall business strategy.
At the Peres Academic Center, Dr. Tsaban lectures on courses related to Business Information Analysis, Data Visualization, and Introduction to Information Systems.
