Understanding interpersonal and systemic influences is also a central interest in Dr. Shivaz’s research; in her doctoral work, she investigated the implications of the motivational climate created by a school principal on teachers’ motivation and instruction, and how these subsequently affect characteristics of students’ learning. Later, as part of her work in the psychological-educational service in Rehovot, she conducted research on the encounter between educational psychologists and parents in the decision-making process for an additional year in kindergarten, examining the influences of the psychologist’s experience, parents’ understanding of the child’s needs, and understanding the needs with which parents come to the meeting with the psychologist.
Limor’s professional perspective is influenced by the narrative approach and the relational approach, which view interpersonal encounters as a joint creation, alongside recognition of the asymmetry in therapeutic or educational encounters.
