Financial scholarship

The South African Zionist Federation offers assistance through three different scholarships:
Pra”s – A volunteering program – intended for students with Israeli citizenship subject to a preference for students of South African origin.
Economic Scholarship – Intended for South African origin students and newcomers from Australia/New Zeeland.
SASI Program – Intended for South African students holding a right to immigrate to Israel.

Pras Scholarship

This scholarship is given on return to hours of volunteering with immigrants (olim) from South Africa. The program takes place between November and June. The student is obligated to volunteer in a scope of 3 hours per week.

The scholarships are intended for students of Sephardic-Jewish heritage with an affiliation to the cultural-linguistic world of Ladino speakers in the diaspora, or to those affiliated to Ladino or Ladino culture/heritage, immigrants from Ladino-speaking countries (Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, former Yugoslavia), with appropriate academic achievements (a grade average of over 82 for BA students, and over 86 for MA students). Substantial priority will be given on the basis of need, lack of financial support or other scholarships, or special personal circumstances. The maximum age for applying is 28 for BA students, and 32 for MA students.
